Terms of Service
Last updated: 1 June 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Tutelee ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Platform. These Terms apply to all users including learners, parents, tutors, and visitors.
2. Description of Services
Tutelee is a marketplace that connects learners and their families ("Clients") with independent tutors ("Tutors"). The Platform provides tools for discovering tutors, scheduling and booking sessions, processing payments via escrow, delivering live video sessions, recording sessions, tracking progress, and resolving disputes.
Tutelee does not itself provide tutoring services. Tutors are independent contractors, not employees or agents of Tutelee.
3. Account Registration
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. If you are registering on behalf of a child under 18, you confirm that you are their parent or legal guardian and accept these Terms on their behalf.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account.
4. Payments and Escrow
All session payments are processed via our escrow system. When a Client books a session, payment is held in escrow by a licensed payment processor and is not disbursed to the Tutor until the session has been delivered.
Clients have 24 hours following a session to raise a dispute. If no dispute is raised within this window, payment is automatically released to the Tutor. Platform fees are disclosed at the point of booking and are non-refundable except in cases of platform error.
5. Cancellations and Refunds
Cancellations made more than 24 hours before a scheduled session are fully refunded to the Client. Cancellations made within 24 hours of a session may be subject to a partial cancellation fee at the Tutor's stated policy.
If a Tutor fails to attend a booked session without prior notice, a full refund will be issued to the Client. Refunds are processed within 3–5 business days to the original payment method.
6. Code of Conduct
All users of the Platform agree to interact with others respectfully and professionally. The following are strictly prohibited: harassment, discriminatory language, sharing of explicit or inappropriate content, misrepresentation of qualifications or identity, and any attempt to conduct transactions outside of the Platform.
Violations may result in immediate suspension or permanent removal from the Platform.
7. Session Recordings
All sessions on the Platform are automatically recorded. Recordings are stored securely and accessible only to the participants of that session (Client and Tutor) and Tutelee's Trust & Safety team for dispute resolution purposes.
By using the Platform, all users consent to the recording of sessions. Recordings may not be downloaded, shared, or distributed outside the Platform without explicit written consent from all parties.
8. Intellectual Property
All content, branding, and technology on the Platform is owned by Tutelee Technologies Ltd or its licensors. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any Platform content without our express written permission.
Teaching materials shared by Tutors during sessions remain the intellectual property of the Tutor unless otherwise agreed in writing.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Tutelee shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform or any sessions conducted through it.
Tutelee's total liability to you for any claims arising from use of the Platform shall not exceed the total fees paid by you through the Platform in the three months preceding the claim.
10. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or in-platform notification at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
12. Contact
